What's the smart money poundage required for Grizzley? Prefer answers from those who have actually shot one!

I prefer a lighter weight bow. It is much easier to shoot over my shoulder as I run in the oppisite direction.

Never shot one, and don't plan on it! But, I would not attempt it with less than 65# at the very least, and with a heavy arrow. I am not an advocate of light bows on heavy game. Sure, it can and has been done, just that everything has to be perfect - Do you feel lucky? If not, you could be visiting Timmy Treadwell in his Happy Bear Maze in the Sky

I prefer 50# but thats just what
I'm
comfortable shooting.
I'd use the weight you are the most comfortable and confident with that meets the legal requirements for the area you are hunting.
Shooting more weight won't help if you can't pull it back at the moment of truth.

I'd say you want to be at least 180lbs so the grizzly doesn't still feel hungry when he's through with you.
Just kidding hope you have a great hunt

Same thing I shoot at whitetail deer, elk, moose etc. 53 to 58 pound bow at 28" and 29", 600 plus grain arrows, with a top quality, razor sharp broadhead, probably of two blade design.

Here in AK, you must use 50 pounds minimum and you must use a fixed blade broadhead. Bear ribs are not particularly tough. If you're planning on shooting through the shoulder blade, please let me know so I can stay out of the area till he's done eating you.

My friend made a bow for a guy named Mickey Cartwright in California and he has shot several grizzly bear in Alaska with recurves and uses a 60# high performing bow. His favored tactic on several bears was to set up a tree stand on a game trail headed to the garbage dump around whatever camp or town he was hunting in. Not the most romantic way to get it done but he has killed several large bears.
