new to arrow building Jojan or bitz?
« on: February 27, 2007, 02:27:00 PM »
For the price.. is the bitz that much better than a Jojan.  I can buy two jojan monos for the price of one bitz.  I probably wont build more than 3 dozen shafts per  year....... thanks for any advice.

Steve, I just finished my first arrows and I use a bitz.  That thing is really awsome and easy to use.  I have never used a JoJan but from what I seen the bitz would be pretty hard to beat.  Hopefully somebody with a little more experience can help more.

My next will be a Bitz.

I currently use a Jo-Jan,no problems at all,great jig.

I've also used an Arizona EZ,I like the idea of doing an entire arrow at once.

I think the Bitz is the best tho.

You might want to check out the grayling jig.I think it's a knock off of the bitz but in plastic. It's about half the price of the bitz.Had mine about 15yrs. and it does fine.

Why not a JoJan Multi and do 6 arrows at a time?

Gizzard let me use his Jojan, I Loved it, I used bitz when I worked at the archery shop. we had 12 on a lazy susan and to me no big deal but a big chunk outa my pocket. I'd rather take the extra money and buy some dipping tubes, paint, feathers, tape, etc. I have a grayling right now and the only thing I really don't like about it is that it has a magnent to hold your jig. I use tape now and don't need it to hold and I have to be careful to hold the jig so it doesn't pull my jig from my hand and mess and helical up.
Jest my two cents. Either way You'll be happy and can't wait to see some of your arrows. JB

I just got a Jojan multi fletch last week, and it is very simple to use, no problems so far. I don't need to fletch 6 at a time, but the price was right. Can't beat $45 for a Jojan multifletch setup.

You will find that the Bitz is well worth the money..
I've had both for a number of years and the Jojan clamps just don't hold as good..
As a matter of fact I just bought my second Bitz at the recent PA Outdoor show.
IMHO...
The Bitz is :
Easier to clean and maintain..
Also the clamps are much stronger and hold the fletch tighter and in general hold up better..
Great adjustment for fletch placement on the shaft..
The Bitz is heavier so it wouldn't fall over on you if you decide to move it from area to area..
I also use tape to fletch..

Have Jo-Jan mono fletch, just mounted it to my cresting table, works great and will put a ton of helical on a feather, honestly like it better then the bitz I had, gave it to a guy for his Dads birthday a few years ago.

That's the one I use,but it only does one fletch at a time.I was saying the Arizona EZ allows you to do an entire arrow, all 3 fletches at one time.

I have four bitz' and love em.  But if I had it to do over I would buy two JoJann Multifletchers.  Do a dozen at a time and be done with it.

Bitzenburger and fletch tape--makes a multi-fletcher obsolete (with feathers at least).

My vote is for the jo jan I have been using one for over 20 years.A few years ago I decided to switch to a bitz after a couple dozen arrows I sold the bitz and went back to the jo jan.

You still fletch one feather at a time with either the Bitz or the JoJan multi. Except with the multi you do one feather on six arrows at a time. So you can do 3 feathers on a dozen arrows in an hour using normal glue.

I've not tried the fletch tape, so maybe 1 feather at a time on a Bitz for a dozen arrows is actually quicker.

just finished my first batch of arrows, using the Jo Jan multi... well, actually, I used one station of the Jo Jan multi.  I used the fletching tape and immediately discovered that one clamp is all that's necessary.   The clamp worked well.  As it happens my son has a Jo Jan mulit as well, but he got his used along with a bunch of odd extra clamps... some straight, some right helical, some left.  the other night we decided to cut out Jo Jans down to three stations each and split up the clamps so that each one had a right helical station, a left and a straight.   The tool will still be nice and stable on the bench and very versatile.
