NEW BOWS !! Lava Guava, Boo/Ipe, Osage&Guava, Silk Osage

Recovering from a little injury at a friends place I found the time to take pictures of the bows I finished last sep/oct/nov.

because of the ammount of shots I'll put every bow in this thread.

The first is a Lava stained Guava.


64" ntn 68# @ 26", 1 1/16" at the fades, 1 1/4" reflex, 1/8" positive tiller, Ipe overlays. paraffin finish

This is how I make my lava soil stain

This is by far the finest shooting bow I've made.

I'm figuring out the best desings for this wood, and yes the super narrow outher limbs are a big part of it.

gotta take a break now, get back at it in a bit

Next is a bamboo backed Ipe,

the strips of boo are 3/4" taken from a blind, they butt at the handle where I glued a strip of zebrawood over it.

The 2 wraps on the top limb are to stop 2 splinters in the Ipe, first wrapped with silk than artificial sinew.

64" ntn, 73# 2 26", zebrawood overlays, linseed oil finish
