How to tighten loose nocks?
« on: September 23, 2008, 05:19:00 PM »
I have snap-on type nocks on my POC arrows which are a little on the loose side. How can I best tighten up the fit of the nocks on the serving?
Double serving would make things too tight (I suppose I could then file the nocks to suit though).

You could use dental floss. Or double serving. Or boil your nocks and squeeze them around your string until they cool.

Like Tom said dental floss. Works great. Tie 2 half hitches about an inch below your nock, neatly run it up to the nock and back down, tie off with two half hitches.  .That's it. I should add some folks here even use masking tape. They say it will last a season. I like the floss myself.

I use dental floss too, but use the flat type, not the cord type.  Works great and lasts a long time. Two wraps does it for me !

Reserve the string with a larger serving material.

I immediately thought of my endless days bowfishing where a frustrating loose nock was quickly remedied with a bite from the ole canines!  I am not recommending this, just remember the days when just about every one of my bowfishing arrows had teeth marks on the nocks.  OK, I am done daydreaming...go on...

Exactly!

If you don't have thicker serving, you can always reserve with the same diameter serving you'e using now, but lay a few strands of string material under the serving. That'll thicken up the center serving area.

Thanks again guys for your great advice. I think I will try the dental floss route and see how I get on.
