Purpleheart and Padauk with Red Elm Limbs. One bow is about a year older than the other. That's why the difference in tone. They're both settled in about the same now.

Just finished staining my first handcrafted bow. It goes on its first 3d hunt on Sunday and I'm counting the hours.

I am surprised to see the majority by a big margin are not actually longbows but hybrids or hybrid type longbows.
Not a slight on the design as I have shot them too. But just an observation.

Here's a couple I made.

First one is curly maple/paduak riser, dyed curly maple/actionboo limbs.
 

 

Second one I was going for a more simple "Hill Style".  Walnut riser, black cherry/actionboo limbs.

I only have 3 longbows. Just laid them down on the floor, sorry about not being able to post full drawn pics.
