Indiana Deer Season
« on: September 26, 2008, 09:40:00 AM »
Ok all you Hoosier trad bowhunters! Our season starts in just 5 days! Are you ready?! And are you at all excited about cooler days coming! I've heard it will be in the low 50's as the high for opening day. Is that cool enough for any of you? Mornings and evenings of course will be even cooler!

I am hunting opening day here at home then going to Ill. for the 2nd-6th. Bought up several wool articles and have had them hung out for a couple of weeks. A couple of things still had a faint perfumy smell so I'm washing them in cold water and soda. Will hang out to dry.
I have broadheads sharpened for the Fow longbow and one primitive arrow. For the BBO bow I have 3 primitive arrows. Making them has gotten quicker and easier. I'm getting pretty good at it IMHO.  :)

Good luck to you b.glass on your Il. hunt.

As far as being ready, I don't think I have been completely ready for anything my entire life.  There's more to do but the broadheads are sharp and the woodlot is calling.

Best of luck to all my fellow Hoosiers.  Be safe and let's see what another year of the OBR brings.  MJ

I probably won't get to hunt a whole lot in the early season after spending 9 days in Idaho.  But later in October and early November are what I live for.  Good luck to you all.
Take a kid hunting!

Good Luck to all ! My vacation time isn't until November but I love hunting from the ground with the ghillie suit during the early season. I've got a spot picked out in the edge of a corn & bean feild that is just begging to be hunted that first evening or two of season next week. May you all have a safe and successful season

I'll be missing the opener in IN for the first time in 24 years this year, but I'm sure I'll still get some hunting days in over there though. I have decided to concentrate more on IL this year wich is normaly the opposite of what I do~!!

However I will be in Indiana tomorrow morning (Parke county) with my son for the youth antlerless season opener! He's hoping to get his first ever deer tomorrow!

Good luck to all of you.

Well Flatstick! Now your secrets are starting to come out! Tell us more about how you have gotten all those huge bucks!
adeeden - Let us know how your sons hunt turns out. I tried to get my youngest to take advantage of the youth hunt but couldn't get him to.

I will hunt in the evening, I get off in the morning. Take a nap and then try not to take another nap in my blind! I do not know if I want to take my longbow or a recurve out with me. But I am really ready though.

Just put up 2 stands and the landowner told of two monsters that hit an acorn tree 75 yds. from his house every eve. on the edge of his large yard .Guess where one stand is?? Going now to another place to hang stand and this owner said about a dozen turkeys feed each morn. under oak where I always sit , but one is 98% white. Will share pics if I'm lucky!!Good luck and enjoy mother nature.John Benetti
