Hunting with old Bears
« on: September 26, 2008, 05:33:00 PM »
Joe and I are going to be hunting with our 70's Bear grizzlies this season, and with all the nice pics on the Bear bow thread, I was just wondering how many folks here will be hunting with these old beauties.

The lazy do not roast any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

Hi All,

Until two years ago I hunted with a Bear Kodiak Magnum (50# @28") that I bought new about 1972.  This was the only bow I hunted with during this time period.  My bow was damaged during a move, a gouge through the glass left to right on the back of the limb about six inches from the upper tip.  Sadly, I retired it.

The bows we have available today are both works of art, and nearly indistructable.  Our problem is "soooo many toys and soooooo little time to play!"

The only bow I have and shoot is a Bear Grizzly

I'll spend the bulk of my season with Bowdoc's old 1960 Kodiak 60" 52#, a modified 4 arrow leathertop quiver and bear razorheads.

The bow will perform flawlessly if I do my part.

Mine will see a few days in the woods. To much mojo not to hunt with

My '65 Zebrawood Grizzly will be going afield w/ me on more than a few hunts, similarly set-up like Trap's with a 4 arrow leathertop quiver and vintage Bear arrows tipped with 1960 Bear Razorheads.

1970 K-Mag 50#'s and 52 inches. Got this one a couple of weeks ago and in pristine condition!  Brought back a lot of memories of the bows of my youth.  Would be a shame not to hunt with it.
