Sounds good to me. I've never used a ghillie suit so I have a question or two. How do you make/modify one so it doesn't interfere with your bowstring? How bout a way to pack in/out so you don't have to drag it through the brush.

Mike...no pics yet. What mades the kit form great is the abilty to be made to work i=with your shooting style...for instance I'm right handed and shoot the bow upright, so my ghillie has very short material, across the chest area, and none on the inside of my left arm..of course when the shot dictates canting the bow, I have plenty of clearance.

With my personal ghillie, I built a carry bag into the suit...simply fold all the ghillie into its selfbag and zip close, then use the shoulder strap to carry......works very well, and I plan to include the carry system into a production model.

Thanks Rod, what is the best way to determine where not to put strands? Or is the best way to just make the shoot and cut and trim where needed? Dang, I think this thread is gonna cost me more $$$.

Before offering, I'll come up with detailed instruction's...but simply put, I put the base on and shot my bow, paying attentsion to where I could have string interference and built accordingly...for instance, the inside of your bow arm doesn't need cover, so I left it bare, as that where most of the interference comes from..and the base suit is camo, anyway. I used lots of material on the top and back of the shoulder's, as well as the neck area of the hood, to really breakup my outline.

I do own a ghillie... These "issues" need to be addressed in a new one for me.

Weight- mine is too heavy to still hunt in.

Lenght- build a 3/4 suit for the avg. 5'8 guy.

Hood- gets in the way, head movement. Would prefer a short billed hat/mask combo.

Heat- Jute/burlap is heavy and crazy hot. I will not hunt in mine until late November.. The temps are just too warm until then.

Rod - if it's anything like your other products you'll be swamped.

I've got an old MO leafy suit, not what I'd call a guille but they're readily availible. I agree with just about all the points already posted:

1) 3/4 length for average (5,10) height
2) long, shirt/poncho style with an inner waist tie
3) Lack of a bug liner - Thermacells have really helped in this area.
4) A removable hood (possible snapped on?) so if the user wanted to attach it to a hat they could.
5) zip pocket on the inside for easy storage.

Hope it becomes reality!

I thought average height was 6'2"

Can't wait to see/try this product. Anyone have any luck using a ghillie instead of a blind for turkeys?

Bug liner is over kill. Just my opinion. I have a "lightweight" ghillie with the jute threads and mosquitos can't penetrate it. The bug liner will just make it even hotter.

I just got done re-doing mine and it takes a good while, but thats counting trimming all the old jute off. I didn't re-do the hood cause I never used it. I just use a boonie that has camo cloth draped off the back with camo cloth strips and leaves on it.

Ghillies are the best camo PERIOD. You'll love them if you get one.

Been following this thread and I think something like this would work well for me here in Oregon. It would help brake up my form more than the camo I already wear. The 3/4 length would be perfect.

Rod no bug liner too much weight
Seperate hood /face mask
Needs to be light weight as possible

I say yes, do it. Full kit, partial kit too. some may want just parts of it to add to their gear they have now.
