over night

will the meat of a deer still be eduble if left in the woods overnight in 55 deg. weather. Shot my first doe with trad yesterday evening. Lost 10" of shaft (she broke the arrow when she ran off). Hit high at a fairly steep angle. 15 ft. up a tree and she was only about 10 yds away. Not one drop of blood. Temp was about 70 when I shot. Got down to about 55 last night. Heading out now to look again. Just reminds me of why I typically don't do a lot of bow hunting in the evenings. DANG! Thanks for any insight.

If you find her right off this morning and get her field dressed and in a cooler, she should be fine. I killed a buck at last lght about four years ago and had to leave him over night in 54 degree weather and he was fine.

It almost surely will be fine if you find her soon.  I have found deer up to 24 hours later in warmer temps and they were fine.  Having said that, always trust your nose when it comes to the meat.  The smeller is the teller.  There are too many variables to give an absolute answer.

Arrows don't do as much tissue damage away from the wound as bullets, so the meat stays good longer. You should have no problem if you find her this morning.

Did you find it?

Go get her.  She will be fine if you find her soon.  Give us an update.

I've heard that southern deer having (generally) less body fat take longer to spoil.
Good luck finding her.
