Here is what I have been using for quite some time. These are actually "heavy duty felt pads" that are meant to stick to the bottom of your chair legs so they don't scratch your floor. They come in many sizes, colors and thicknesses. They wear like iron and are as quiet as can be.
This one just happens to be on my Hoyt Gamemaster. I used the full thickness (1/4") for the strike plate as this bow is cut past center. for the shelf, I simply used a razor blade to trim the thickness to 1/8".
I have found that the small size is very nice if you are looking for minimal arrow contact.
One of the best parts is that one package of 16 pads costs about 2 bucks at Walmart. Where I went to school, that's less than 13 cents a piece.
