New Quiver - Best Idea in a While!
« on: October 02, 2008, 04:58:00 PM »
So, I've been looking for a good back quiver for a while. I was leaning toward a tube-style quiver, but it was still $80. Yes, I know that $80 is relatively cheap, however, I have come up with a better quiver. I went to the university bookstore and purchased a blueprint protection tube that extends from 18 1/2-43". It has a shoulder strap, and most importantly WORKS PERFECTLY as a quiver. The tube that I purchased is entirely black, unlike the picture posted. Oh, and the cost? $18 with tax!!! Sure, it is not super traditional, but I'll take functionality and economy any day!

By gosh I believe you're on your way now...all you need is a couple of endorsements to market successfully and then next thing ya' know you'll be sponsoring NASCAR entries!

Very cool!

If you wanted to quiet it down a bit, you could always glue some fabric around the outside of the bottom section.  The leg from an old pair of pants might be a welcome, cheap and easy addition.

Cover it with leather like you would with a bow riser grip. It will quiet it down if something hits it like a limb or shrubs and it will look better.  Good idea!

I you can get to a garage sale or re-sale shop and find an old leather coat or set of welding sleves you can cover it with that too.

I have done this in the past, in the UK these document tubes are used as arrow cases all the time (actually sold by archery suppliers as arrow cases).

Whats great about them is they are expandable so you can make it larger or smaller depending on the size of your arrows.

A big discount chain here also did a special offer on one brand and were selling them for the equivalent of $2, I purchased 10, wishing now I have purchased loads more.

Don't make fun of slipsticks!  I was too young when they were first around, but started using them a few years ago.  Retro coolness (just like a stickbow).

I want to commend you on your thriftiness.  I too found something cheaper to buy, made for a different purpose, but works just as well.  I use an adjustable fly fishing rod tube for my hard longbow case.  Oh yeah, I save around $50.00.  Take care.

I believe it is a 3" inside diameter...I was carrying six arrows easily, but didn't try more.
