JDS3- that tree is a species of melaluca. commonly called a 'paperbark'. for it's paperlike bark. that one in the background is a large one.

I am no tree expert but it looks like a paper bark to me.

I live in the southern state of Victoria, but have seen the a couple of times, when hunting in the northern Queensland Cape York areas, in swampy areas.
