SCATTERSHOT

Hi, all.  I just received a new to me Chaparral Alpine recurve. When I got it, the brace was 7", with what appears to be a fastflight string. The string had yarn wrapped around the ends, and fur silencers in the string, and shot quite well.

I made a 8125 string for it with no silencers, and at the same brace, with the same arrow, it sounds like a .22 rifle. No joke.

I put a dacron string on it, and once again it's quiet as a mouse. Anybody else experience this?

What is the recommended brace for these bows, anybody know?

In my experience, 8125 is very noisy stuff.  Silencers will quiet it some, but I use D-97 instead because it's not as noisy.

Did you buy the black handle Alpine that was in the classifieds?

SCATTERSHOT

yessir, that's the one. I was hoping you would reply, I remember you had one when they first came out.

How does that shoot Gene? I was considering getting one of those also. Hap

Shoots great, Glynn. it's pretty close to centershot, so arrow selection is not too critical. They are no longer in production, but you can find them used from time to time. How have you been, anyway?
