lets find this bull
« on: October 08, 2008, 10:42:00 PM »
This is a scrape that I found while hunting this year. I would like to see the elk that did this. some of the marks on this tree are nearly 8 feet high.

Ditto!!  Very limited draw in this area.  I think I might set up a trail cam to see how big he really is.  I've found his rubs in the exact same spot for 2 yrs.  Rick.

Ferret,
Are you hunting the Snowies? Laramie Peak? If you could shoo that elk up to the Bighorns, I would appreciate it.  :bigsmyl:

Drew, Yes he does...
Which area are you hunting, Ferret, or is that a military secret? I try to draw 35, but it seems nigh on to impossible. I have enjoyed all of area 37 I can stand. Maybe next year!

I hunted area 37 for alot of years and took alot of elk out of there. just the last few years I started hunting the other side of the mountian to hunt with my dad. I think that on the right year 37 is great. 35 is a great area the former state record archery was out of there and maybe the current I cant remember where duffy got his. I am hunting the west slope right now though. seems to be alot of elk just hard country to hunt. Where have you been in 37?   I wish you luck in the draw. Maybe try the west slope areas. Draw odds are a little better over there.

ferret you probably rememer where Little Goose falls is in 37? I am origionally from Sheridan before I moved to Billings for work reasons, but I seen 7 rubs near the head of little goose falls and all kinds of sign when I went down this year to help my pops try to get one. The snow the week earlier moved them somewhere we couldn't find them, but boy if we would of been a week earlier according to the sign.... some of those rubs were to die for. I had forgot to put a card in my camera otherwise I would of been able to post one.   My dad wants to cut one down and pick up all the shavings around it and replicate it in his den. I think it would be neat, but where it naturally is is more of a treat for me. elk are so addicting !!!
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story....
