Do RazorCaps Perform as well as the Woodsmans?
«

Hey all,
Can anyone tell me if the RazorCaps broadheads are as good or perform as well as the Woodsman? I'd like to hear your experiences with the RazorCaps. If you haven't had the chance to use them, how about posting your thoughts or opinions of them?
I almost forgot, how about adding the Snuffer into the mix. What's your thoughts about those broadheads?
Thanks for your time and help.

I haven't shot anything with a Razorcap but I have the Woodsman. I think the Caps would do well. Biggie Hoffman I believe has said that he likes them real well.

The Razorcaps are # 1 in an affordable 3 blade broadhead. I like them better than the woodsman.

My Partners and I designed and marketed the Woodsman head when we owned 2XL Productions. The idea was to have a head that we could use for everything from jackrabbits to moose and I think the head accomplished that.
Phil Muller took the design one step further by making it in stainless steel with adjustable weights by changing ferrules.
No rust, sharper, changeable blades or touch 'em up, sharpen yourself, replace when bent or broken.
Two choices, two great heads.

I really like the Razorcaps. EASY to sharpen, tough as nails, straight flying, weight adjustable. A very well engineered head.

I shot my turkey this spring with a razorcap. Went to get ready for deer season and pulled the broadhead out that I shot the turkey with and the back of one of the blades was broke. I have not shot a deer with one yet. Maybe this year.

Does anyone have one that I could buy from them just to check it out? My shops around here aren't exactly covered up with different broadheads to try.
PM me if you wouldn't mind in selling me one of your RazorCaps new or used.

I have used both and taken a number of hogs with both, They both perform very well, very good penatration, big holes and good blood trails, I like the razorcap better because of its versatility in weight configurations and its is stainless steel. I have put both through the shoulder blade of good size hogs (not intended target)53# @ 30" 600+ grain arrow. Both did well blowing up the shoulder and pentrating all the way to the off side. You cant go wrong with eather head.
I Can send you one, i have ferrules that will make a

I suppose I could glue them on to my my carbons Jim, but then I couldn't unscrew them. :D
I love my Razorcaps. The black bear I just harvested made it 30 yards and there was blood in the first yard of travel. Broke a rib going in and still shaves hair. They are very easy to touch up or sharpen.

I used Razorcaps for a couple of years when we carried them with great results, excellent heads.
I've never been let down by a Woodsman either.
Profile wise the Razorcap sits almost exactly between a Snuffer and a Woodsman. I found the stainless of the Caps took a little more attention to get a wicked edge, but once there it held better than the softer Woodsman/Snuffers do, for me at least.

Here's a quick side by side. The two heads are very close. Woodsman is a little longer and narrower while the Razorcaps are shorter and a little wider.
I like the Razorcaps. I've never had trouble sharpening them and they fly really well. I shot a couple pigs with them and one deer. One pig was a running shot through the nearside shoulder and broke the offside leg. No damage to the head. The deer was a tight angle down and quartering away. The deer fell over after I shot it and I put a second arrow into as it was getting up. The second arrow hit the deer as it rocked up to its feet and went straight through the spine. Even with the bone hits I never had any deformation of the heads and nothing but great penetration. Oh, and I wasn't using heavy arrows by any means, 360 - 430 grs.
Lately, I've been playing with two blade heads but I think I'm going to put the Razorcaps back on and get to business.

I am sure the Caps are just fine, I can't afford them as well as I can the Woodsman. I have shot my third animal with the Woodsman, It is the best head, IMO, since the original Rothaar Snuffer on which it is loosely based.

I love the Razorcaps! The ting I like most is that it only takes a flat arkansas stone to get them dangerously sharp.
