Removing inserts

How would I remove inserts from carbon shafts that I glued in with Fletch-Tite Platinum?

A .17 cal rifle cleaning rod or a small piece of brass rod to tap them out. If they are stubborn, imerse in boiling water for 1/2 minute first then they should all tap out. Never had one yet that would not tap out.
