short recurve- 52"- Fedora

I was looking at a recurve and it's 52". I've never shot a recurve, only longbow and it's 62". Are short bows a little harder to shoot? I've only been shooting longbow for 8 months now but when I saw the little recurve it sure was tempting. It's a Fedora which I've heard good things about

I've got a 54" Rivers Edge Arroyo with static limb tips that shoots very well. I shoot it as well as I shoot my 64" Longbow after a little practice. It's suprising how fast you can adjust your shooting from one bow to the next after you've been shooting for a while.

I was shooting a 52" Toelke for a while which was a nice shooter. If you are thinking of a Fedora I would also suggest that you take a look at Dan's version. They are very similar but I think you can get more wood options for the same price as a Fedora.

I have kinda specialized in shooting short hunting bows. I hunt in pig tunnels and real heavy brush alot. Hear is the way I think about short bow hunting.
Short recurve bow 52 to 48" shoot short, longer recuvre bow shoot longer. 460 mag S&W 3" barrel open sights - short recurve, 460mag S&W 10.5" barrel with scope - long recurve bow.
some place I hunt ya just can't get my 66" stringwalking recurve into the hidey hole and shoot it. bear super mag 48 fits in hidey hole just fine. Of course my shot is in the 15 to 20 FOOT range. works fine, no works great. if my shot was at 15 to 20 yds I would be using a different bow......now that is just my opinion.

here is a pic of my pig tunnel bows. I would not say they are bows ya gonna take to the 3D range. these bows are 30' close quater bows in confined space
http://sites.google.com/site/stringwalkerbowhunter/shortstuff
both bows at 60+ draw weight. top is a 48# recurve. bottm is a 52" static recuve.
I shoot the bows from my knees in very tight confines. I may not hit my draw exactly but at 30' i can shoot 4" groups. on a 80# pig and that big BH, that is plumb good enoungh. 80# is all I ever hunt these day. I can get the pig back to my truck in one load, it fits as a unit in my smoker, and ya don't have big gut piles.

Take a look at this weeks sponsor highlight above. Maddog Trad. Archery. I have heard only great things about Mike's short recurve. I have a longbow from maddog and love it. I am ready to go up in weight and am thinking of a Maddog recurve. Can't beat his price.

I shot them. I shoot them good. I just prefer a 60 inch bow. personal preference I guess. You interested in buying one. I have one I just picked up. Let me know if you would be interested. Greg

You have a couple of nice looking bows there Rusty, I like the lines of that bottom bow, it's looks as though it is nice and light and quick to use...Glenn...

Have a 56 in. Fedora 560 3 pc. T/D w/macassor ebony riser/all bamboo limbs- sweet, sweet bow and super easy to shoot out of treestand or blind, shoots like a 60-62 in. bow also.Another good bow I had was a Damon Howatt 54 IN. High Speed 55@28, very good shooting bows and quick, dead quiet.

check out black mountain bows ask for the sheepeater spirit 50in, mine is a new 54in version(sheepeater shaman), its smooth to 32in, much easier and a lot nicer than a supermag 48 I once had

I shoot a 52" Bear Kodiak Magnum. I like it alot, but you have to have good form or else it's hard to shoot. It's real quiet, real smooth, easy to take through the brush, easy to shoot while sitting, and most importantly - it looks cool. :D
