Treestand types

Hi folks, dumb question alert!    

Could anyone please tell me (Pics would be a great help!) the differences between the different types of treestand?
I have a little trouble picturing what you mean when people refer to Climber stands, hang on stands etc... I know what a ladder stand is, other than that all I know is that they all go up in trees  :D

I dont have any pics sorry, but I would have a look at Cabelas website. That should do the trick. If you are looking for some for your new place, you cannot go wrong with Lonewolf brand, one of if not the best stand out there quality and reliability wise. Skimping on something a guy of your size is going to stand on 25ft in air is not a good idea. Lonewolf has hang ons, climbers and ladder stands. I would think that if they are all going to go on your own property and stay out permanently you will find the ladder stands the most comfortable for that kind of use. You can always have a climber and a hang on for those quick changes or for trying out spots. The ladder stands are big and heavy and not something you just grab and haul regularily.

The Cabelas idea was a good 'un, but I'm still unsure of the different uses.

Do you actually use a climbing stand to climb the tree?
How do you get up there to hang a hang on?
Do you need to use sticks or steps with all treestands, or does a climbing stand eliminate these?

Have you moved to TN yet ? You could try out one of our Summit Viper stands maybe ? A climber stand does climb the tree, with your help of course ! Most are the sit and stand type. You simply sit down on the top half, pull the bottom half up with your legs, then repeat.

A hang on stand requires you to climb the tree with tree steps and a lineman's belt and then strapping the stand to the tree. Ladder stands simply lean up against the tree and you walk up the ladder to the platform.

Then there are the Treesaddles and Guidos Web type stands that are gaining popularity. You wear the stand / harness and climb the tree with steps and then tether off once you get high enough to hunt.

No Cams, we haven't moved yet. We've put an offer in on the property & it's been accepted ( :D ) so we're just sorting out all the legal details now. We're hoping to be over at some point in February
