Well, I brought up there with me the following: boudin, seafood gumbo, a tur-duc-en, crawfish etouffe, and lump crabmeat to make and au-gratin.
However, we only cooked that in Saginaw for the two days I was there. I had to eat the local food in the U.P.
Funny you should ask about pasties. At first I saw a sign that said Pasties and Smoked Fish. I thought you could see strippers while eating whitefish. Did not realize the "A" made the AHH sound.
And yes, I ate one....I told my friends it would be much much better if it was stuffed with shrimp, take out the potato and rhudebarb (whatever that beet thing is) add rice, onion, garlic, celery and deep fry it!!!
