I do not like mornings in the early season, I think it does more harm than good for your deer hunting. Also with todays high winds they will be bedded in some thermal cover or else right out in the open fields so it is a good day to work on the house. Tomorrow morning however may be great as they should move when the rain stops. Shawn

rain here too. I got up and thought about going duck hunting out back this morning. then remembered I hadn't bought a duck stamp yet. DOH! I've been jumping hundred of ducks out of the beaver slew behind the house every time I walk back there and I haven't heard one shot this year, but do you think I could remember to stop by the pot office? I agree with Shawn though. Tomorrow morning should be great.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that didn't wanna go out in that this morning LOL

Once I got close to where I wanted to be last night only to be grounded by the buck activity I ended up setting in the hedgerow between 2 corn fields about 15yrds from the tree I wanted to be in but the bucks where grunting up a storm and 1 had a very deep grunt

Lets skip to the chase....finally here comes a doe with a fawn and she's coming towards me and I know there's a buck following...

Do I shoot her and hope for the buck too    no let her go   dont scare her

She gets by just a few rows in less than 10 yrds away (I'm in full stink mode right from work no shower and work close's....covered by predtor camo)

here he come's a nice 120 class 8pt ohh baby   :bigsmyl:

The doe has passed and I get set to draw on this buck he'll easily be my best LB buck and I forgot 1 little detail

good luck guys
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

it wasn't as much the rain that bothers me as the wind. It's been out of the south/south east for 5 days here and I only have 2 marginal stands for that wind... GRRR

Brent ya need to have at least 50 stands like Damon and I (56 to be exact) that way ya can hunt any wind. I hate to do it but we are heading out in the morning only because I believe the deer will move after the rain stops. Damon will sit the 3ft. stand and I will sit the Wildrose stand and see if I can catch those two big eights going to bed!!   :bigsmyl:  Shawn

Just got in and Damon and I saw nothing but turkeys. On the way to our area we took a little round a bout way so  Icould drop Damon off, so he would not have a long walk, we saw at least 20 deer driving to our spot this am. The rainn stopped too early last night and they were all headed to bed by first light. Ken I used to maintain 102 stand sites. We have it down to 56 now and Damon has at least 5 others in an area he hunts, so 61 is all for now. Good Luck everyone!! Shawn

Zip here as well this morning - same with about 4 others I've talked to.

Back out in a while if the rain holds off.

Heading to NY next week.  Haven't hunted much due to a divorce in process.  Looking forward to some healing in the woods of NY.

Thats gotta hurt, but a miss is better than a bad hit any day. He will connect, Im sure. Epecially if it is rabbit-sized deer charging!!  :D
I head out tomorrow afternoon. Cant decide if Im sitting or sneaking around looking for a new spot.
Either way, I am psyched. I finally have weeknds off now...so next weekend is all about the deer woods!
Good luck everyone.

Jamie, we can hook up next weekend for a hunt at the new place. Lots of deer and one dog that better be chained up or else. Shawn

Got out tonight, had three turkeys feeding for about an hour about 80 yards away.
Half hour before dusk a HUGE doe came out and hung out broadside at 15 yards trying to figure out why her sixth sense was twitching. Once she cut my wind, she knew.
Sounds good Shawn, just let me know when.
I will be out again Wednesday.

Hey everyone, I have two vacation days left to use, Iwas thinking Fri Nov 7th and Mon Nov 10th. Think these will work to see some bucks cruising thru the woods or should I pick earlier days? I can hunt every day anyways because I work third shift. I just want to spend the whole day in the woods a couple of times. Rob
