Saw a deer than the sm 8pt I let go the other day. After he went thru a doe being dogged by a forkhorn came by and still no shots. After that a father and son came by squirrel hunting taking at least 3 shots at everysquirl they saw with a 22....

As you can imagine that ended my hunt for the evening, never saw another deer
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

The past 1/2 a dozen times out I did not even see a deer, the alfalfa fields by me were sprayed with roundup and now there dead. I went looking for a different spot today and came up with a good one I had a lot of action tonight, I set up in my DB because it's all thorn apples and briers behind me is a creek and in front is a cattail swamp, it all ends up bordering a fully live alfalfa field. About five the action started with the distinct crunching of cattails, I new there were deer in front of me but it is so thick that I could not see them, when they come into view here they are well within range, I normally lay my bow on the ground in the blind but in this spot I had to be on my toes so I held it the whole time. There was a buck in the swamp I'm certain that he was chasing a doe they were crashing around and he was grunting, I could have shot four different bucks, but I have no tag left just a couple doe tags, the doe never showed but I'll be back to this spot for sure.

Nice Buck Tucker   :bigsmyl:  Just kidding bud, Joe would be mad at me if I didn't mention that. Good luck with the remainder of the season, I'll see you at the Bunny hunt.

I had a shot at a small doe this morning, she was just the size deer I want to get yet. Some how my form fell all to pieces and I missed her clean at about 23 paces, deer have a way of doing that to me no matter how big or small they are, I guess that is why I love this sport so much, it gets my blood to boil

Must be the morning for misses Jim. I officially shot at and missed my first(a very big 4 pt) with trad gear. I actually drew on him twice, let down the first time due to a branch touching the limb. He caught me easing down and we had a ten minute stare down. He turned around and started walking away, gave me a 17 or 18 yard broadside shot. I was so focused on getting to anchor, I forgot to pick a spot. The first time I drew I was burning a hole in em....what a rush! I had another smaller buck(neat deer fork on one side, the other wraps behind his ear and comes out below his jaw) five yards from me the whole time! Then two minutes after the miss, another buck(small fork) cam strutting by at 15 yards. Needless to say, I was still shaking too much and could not load an arrow in time. Between that and the HUGE doe at five yards and the 23 turkeys that almost knocked me outta the tree at first light....WHEW!
To top it all off, I found my lost arrow. Shot it at a squirrel about a month ago. Found my arrow from today too. Then on my way back out, I found the left side of what looks like a decent 8 Pt from last year.
GREAT MORNING.

Havin' action like that is (almost) as fun as putting them down. Then, you had the thrill without the mess...

My hunting partner and I were in the Catskills again for our annual bowhunt. Sad part is this will be the last year there, house and property got sold. We also had a new property to hunt in Orange county (friend of Theo's brother-in-law). We each had three tags, Theo filled his, even passing on a spike after his buck tag was filled. I missed a small buck and had a five yard encounter with a doe that resulted in no  shot opportunities. All in all a great last Catskill hunt.

Me going camoless :

Theo's doe,, taken with a 1000g arrow

Spike that qualified for a DMP  permit:

Theo's 3C buck(three point on one side min):

Black Coffee, Red Wine, Blue Waters, Green fields, Yellow sunsets,Whitetailed Deer,, All the Primary colors of Life ,,,.
I don't choose the deer, the deer chooses me.
