Jonathan (My 14 yr old son) has connected agian. This fawn came out sucking up persimmons.

I have to say, im proud of him! When he came to get me (I was in a stand about 200 yards from him) I could see a little sorrow mixed in with the excitement on his face. He was a little torn about taking the fawn, but I explained to him the importance of keeping the herd down, and taking the smaller ones could make a difference in the poor buck to doe ratio in the area.

Anywho, this was a heavily hunted area, one of the few WMA's in the area. about a 15 yard shot. Hes shooting a 50# Colt, homemade cedars, and 125 grain ace heads.

The part I like the best is he picked the area, the tree, and sat there for 7 hours before getting the shot.

Congrats Jonathan and also to your Dad for showing you the way.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
