??? bow as luggage
«

NW airlines wants 100$ for the third pc of luggage. I'm taking my longbow and compound with me so I built a nice wood box that will hold both. Does anyone see a problem with this? It will be under 50# and the airlines has a waiver on archery equipment as far as cubic in. is concerned. I guess I'm wondering if they are going to say a wood box is not luggage.

Since they even charge for one bag now, don't know what they will do but it'll probably cost money. Next they are going to charge for the seat and extra if you want a back on it or something. Maybe rent the overhead compartments out...aaaaaaahhahhhhhhh.
Don't suppose they would let me carry my take down bow in a carry on.

I would say your best bet is to call and ask them.
If feasible another option would be to mail it.

It should be fine. But definitely call them and get the name of the person you talk to. When you go to check the luggage, make sure you know what you are talking about. The gate agents don't always seem to know the rules any better than we do.

I would opt for shipping my bow ahead of time and not trust the airline. If you get to your hunting destination but your bow went to Newark your hunt won't be much fun. I did this 2 years ago when I went elk hunting in Colorado. I used USPS and sent the packages "priority" mail and insured. Pat
