I'm considering buying a tanned beavertail to be used for grip and rest material on one of my longbows. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

Never tried it as rest material, but in my mind the best grip material. No sticky feeling as with the shur grip, it just feels right.

I've been using it as a strike plate for ~ 6 months now. Doesn't show any wear yet.

For the grip you will need to find a large tail. Should be a min of 4 1/2" wide. Any thing smaller it will be difficult to stitch up. I buy my tails unseen by the dozen (split), out of the 24 splits. I get only a couple that will work for a grip. They do make a great long lasting rest.

Just ordered a beaver tail from Abe at Cari-bou Archery. Appreciate your comments. Will post pictures when I get the project completed. Right now, I'm going hunting. Got to help my bud get his deer.
