I ordered some Power Bond but its been on back order for awhile. I tried Gorilla Glue for the inserts and it worked great. I decided today to give it a shot on my broadhead adpter. I'm going to let it cure a full 24hrs cause I'm hoping it will work really well. Gorilla Glue is very cheap, can be found anywhere, and as long as you keep the cap on a bottle will last a VERY long time.

Anyone try this glue yet?

I use the Gorilla Glue Super Glue for all my inserts/feathers on my carbons.  Glues on fast and I've yet to have one come loose - even after repeatedly shooting them into wooden planks, etc.

I will say this...I HATE Gorilla Glue/Powerbond for arrows!!! I used to use it for inserts and adaptors, and was not impressed. The hold is somewhat strong, yes, but it seems it's brittle dried state just cannot stand up to high impacts such as repeated stumping.
 I've since switched to both 2 part, 24 hour epoxies and JB Weld, and could not be happier...

I have had mixed success with powerbond, what I found that it works best on is fishing arrows. I use it to glue the points on fiberglass fishing arrows and the stuff seems to hold good on them, even after repeated strikes on rocky bottoms. I have tried it for inserts it works OK for 3D arrows but like Chris said it won't hold up to stumping, I use JB weld for those arrows. Just good old hot melt works good for broadhead adapters.

I tried Powerbond at one time.  I was not very impressed with it.  I went back to using Goat Tuff which is fantastic for anything I have found to use it for.  I was having issues with Powerbond when it got cold and wet here is Michigan in December.  Never have any problems with Goat Tuff.

I use nothing but Devcon 2 part epoxy, for all my arrows, wood, carbon, and aluminum.

Here's a question for those that use BH adapters. Have any of you ever tried glueing them on, aligning them, then after the glue dries, braze the back of the ferrel to the BH adapter? It would add a small amount of weight but I think that sucker would never move.

Although I do have to wonder if the thinner ferrel would melt before the thicker BH adapter got hot enough to take the braze? Something like JB Weld would probaly have to be used because the heat would cause the glue to let go which would throw off your alignment.

What do you guys think?

I too don't like the power bond.
use either two part epoxy , or even better...

THE GORILLA GLUE DIDN'T WORK WELL AT ALL!!!!!!!

I hit the compressed wood on the bottom of my block target and when I pulled it out the broadhead stayed there. I'm going to get some J.B. Weld this afternoon.

I also tried Gorilla and Goat Tuff and did not have good success.  I have been using Gold Tip for a few years now and have not had an insert come out since.

I found out you are suppose to dip your inserts into WATER and THEN apply Power Bond and push into shaft. After doing that I have had no problems with it.

I started using a clear two part epoxy.  It sets a lot faster than the JB weld and seems to hold up great.

Same with Gorilla glue all polyurethane glues need a little moisture to set properly.
I used Gorilla glue on gun stocks I use to make. Before I started using it I wanted to test it first. I took two pieces of Ebony(oily not cleaned)wiped them with a wet cloth and clamped them. I tested the glue joint by putting the piece in a vise and beating it with a hammer,the wood broke before the glue joint did...It's good stuff!


 

It sets a lot faster than the JB weld and seems to hold up great.

JB makes a 5 minute also..that's what I use most the time.

I may be dead wrong, but please do not use powerbond.  I set up razorheads on 125 grain steel adapters for an hunt in sfa this past summer and dipped the inserts and adapters in water and let the heads stay on the adapter for two days before test shooting the bh and ...  I even took 2 deer with the setup before taking the arrows to south africa.  
I shot a warthog at 17 yards with a perfect shot.  The hog ran, the arrow came out minus the bh and insert.  We trailed the pig for 1500 yards but the set up crumbled before any real damage could be done.  A very sleepless night.

Fortunately, I brought 3  practice arrows with broadheads and inserts glued on with goat tuff and ditched the powerbond arrows.  Those 3 arrows stood up to daily practice and 3 monsters.

After I got home, i attempted to pull the rest of the powerbond broadheads off of the inserts after heating them.  I got a few of the bhs off that way.  I then went stump shooting with the rest and the remaining heads came within a shot or two.  The powerbond just couldn't stand up.
I may sound angry or crazy because I was.  I'm still sick over that poor pig.    Bhill

Oh ya, i just started using jb weld and it seems that so is  everyone else.    Anyone have issues with JB ?  Thanks  Bhill
