Looks like our season comes in April 23..what? 7 weeks from now. Too long. Can't believe these toms can keep this up for a month or more, but they do.

Youth only (Spring) wild turkey season
 April 21, 2007
 April 22, 2007

Wild turkey (Spring). Open statewide except Lake La Su An Wildlife Area.
 April 23, 2007
 May 20, 2007

I'll keep posting pics. I've got literally hundreds on file and probably take 30 or 40 pics a day when they are strutting.

Will try and find a really good wallpaper tom for you.

Chuck I got them at Bass Pro...only cost me $6000 but the realism of flock simulation brings the real birds in from miles away. Trouble is last year I shot 2 and when they quit flopping I found out I had shot them right thru the batteries   :biglaugh:

Real nice pics, were still waist deep in snow around here. Like Shawn says not till may first in NY. The first week is good but the real fun is the last few days of the season end of may. That is when you have a chance at that bird that had eluded everyone all season long if he runs out of hens.

Ha ha  don't ya just hate when you ruin good batteries  !  Those are some awesome shots.  Bet you can hardly wait for season to start.  I still have a couple feet of snow on the ground here, and the birds are still banded up for winter weather.

I expect they'll be out there in about 45 mins so a new group of pics should be coming

Course how many different ways can you take a pic of a turkey?

I never get sick of looking at turkeys or hearing them. Take them pics till they don't come around anymore. You never know what image you will capture.

How to tell a strutting jake from a mature tom

A mature tom has a fan that's is even all the way around (feathers all the same length)

whereas the fan of a jake has longer tail feathers in the very center of the fan

Unbeleivable...keep them coming Mickey, I love these pics.

How come the ground around my house is all white, and I can't see any of the stuff in your yard?

I must confess I am coveting this birds feathers for fletching some arrows I am building!!! Those are some beautiful birds. I can think of as trout flies I could use them for too.......
Right in front of your blind! My gosh!
