I got my Dryad BUSHWHACKER! (now with pictures!)
« on: March 02, 2007, 12:10:00 PM »
Hey Gang! I got it! I got it!
I'll get pictures up later tonight!
I can tell you it's a beautiful bow, and wow! what a shooter!  I don't have a chono, but let me tell you this long bow shoots arrows like a stolen race car drives!  Mike wasn't kidding when he told me to "aim low".  I LOVE the grip design.  It's such that you can't help but to hold it the same way each time, and it really puts the arrow as close to one's fist as can get without actually being on the fist.  It really feels like i am shooting off my knuckle.  Lastly I felt no finger pinch despite the bow's short length of 58".
She's 55#@28" draw, and that's a 5 pound increas for me, so she does feel a little stout to me right now, but I am training with her and I just need to get stronger.
I am SOO impressed with this bow.  PIcts to come!
Derek

A friend of mine has two Dryads, a Soothsayer and a Bushwacker, both around 40#. Very smooth and suprisingly fast. The Bushwacker is his favorite.
Waiting to see your pictures...

Man I just read the test review of that bow in the current issue of TBM and it sure did well! I have had my eye on a Dryad BW for a while, but have to pay for a couple bows I currently have on order first!

Ok as promised the photos!

I appologize for my lack of a decent back ground.  But we do the best with what we have at hand.   ;)

58" Bushwhacker.  55#@28"
the woods are Osage and Cocobolo.
Watusi horn backed, and the same horn for the string ends.
Also has layers of Bamboo and backed with a diamond back rattler.
If your thinking about getting a bushwhacker, get the horn backed option, it's worth every penny and looks good.

Well it's actually a horn belly and bamboo backed. But who's counting.  Nope no glass or carbon in these bows.  All Natural.

that's what's so amazing to me is that these bows are all natural and yet shoot as fast as many fiberglassed bows.

Sweet bow but you're using the wrong hand to hold the bow!

Gorgeous bow! Congrats! How about a pic of the Watusi? Is that the same Watusi we learned to do in the 60's?

Bjorn, I wasn't born till the 70's.  What is the Watusi? or do I not want to know?

ColdSteel, yeah the grip is really well designed and as you can see it puts the arrow RIGHT over your fist.  I have never seen a bow with that style of shelf that puts the arrow so close.  I can just barely feel the feathers brush by with each shot.

I was just looking at the website and thought that was glass on those bows as well.  :)  I am thinking of trying my hand at one of there bow blanks.I might see how bad I can bugger one up.  :scared:
