your opinion needed
« on: October 20, 2008, 08:48:00 PM »
If you could buy a carbon shaft that was near indestructible, and heavy (15 gr/inch on a .500 spine,up to about 22 grs per inch on a .300 spine), would you consider buying/using them?
Your honest feedback would be appreciated.
John

I personally like woods.  So no, but sounds good for the carbon shooters.

I prefer a light, stiff shaft so I can weigh it up on the front end...so no for me.....

You MIGHT get more interest from a normal gpi carbon shaft that was sold pre-footed with internal inserts.  Not tapered so they could still be cut down from the back end.

That puts you in the market of a high gpp, "indestructable", high FOC arrow that can be bought off the rack.

To directly answer you question, no.  I have a hard enough time getting my FOC to what I feel is acceptable...let alone what I'd like.  Heavy shafts would make it that much harder.

I'd welcome any new carbon shaft that's tough, but those weights with the broadheads I shoot would make the arrows heavier than I would like.

I'd be interested!,  though I wouldn't mind "cheap" being added to that list of describers;)

No kidding on the cheap part.  I think due to Dr. Ashby, the current trend is as much weight up front.  If the arrow were that heavy thruout, it would be too heavy for most once they weighted the tip for the EFOC.

I might give them a try, but they might be a bit heavy for my setup.

I like my weight up front because I'm shooting a 45# bow I don't like them to heavy, so no for me.
