Hi MK-I've been making my own arrows since about 1973. This is what I've settled on.
A Wilton combo disk and belt sander to do the tapers w/homemade jigs. Found on sale at Lowe's for $65. For years I used the pencil sharpener types for about $7, then went to a Tru-center for about $25.
An alcohol burner for about $12 to install points.
I just got a Phillips crester for $175. You can get a Bohning for around $90.
I have a Ace arrow straightener for about $25. I use the heel of my hand for 99% of straightening.
I use a 6 arrow Jo-Jan fletcher, because of my job. I work a BUNCH of hours and don't have a lot of free time. $90. You can get a single arrow tool for under $30.
I use the Archery-Past short dip tubes for the crown dips. About $12 ea. For years I use copper tubes w/end caps.
I use the Archery-Past long dip tubes to apply my finish. About $12 ea.
If I am just staining arrows I use a foam brush. 10 for a buck.
If you decide to roll your own, you will find a lot of satisfaction in the process.
Good luck Hap
