A bows design is a major factor in whether a short bow will work for a long draw.  As has already been mentioned, the RER Arroyo is a great short bow that will handle your draw length easily.

I use either a 58" or 60" Widow out of my Double Bull (recurve height) with no problems. CKruse

Seeing that I'm at 32"+ for a draw, I'll second the Shrew option.  Love mine (56" Classic Hunter).  You might not even need one that "big".  Talk to Ron/Gregg.

Our little 58" Orion recurve is an option also.  We had a couple of 32" draw guys shooting them at Compton.  A 60" would be better in my opinion but a 58" would do it.  Quite a bit more performance too.

I've got a 29 or 30" draw and I shoot a 52" Bear Kodiak Magnum just fine.

I'll second the RER arroyo as well, a fantastic bow and very reasonable.  Its next on the list of must own bows.

I'll throw in the Whisperstik 56" er(53.5" strung) or the 58'er(55.5 strung. 30" will be no problem for these two bows. Very smooth and quiet from a short bow. Not to mention only about a 4-6 week wait and light on the pocketbook.

Deermaster- compound shooters use "releases" on those things, and don't worry about finger pinch. These fellows are giving you good advise on bow length. Biff

I cannot believe a 52" kodiak Magnum handles that draw well at all, I have never see one that did not start to gain 4 plus #s ansd inch over 28"s and they start to pinch at 27"s even with tiny hands. Stay away from the Kodiak Mag. they also are very critical of release. Shawn

I'm not as experienced as alot or the guys posting, but if you want to go with a short bow and long draw length I think you are gonna get alot of finger pinch if you are shooting split finger.  When I tried a 54" bow, it didn't stack at all but even at just under 30" I was getting enough finger pinch that a smooth release was difficult.  JMHO.

The thing about finger pinch is with todays bow designs it is becomming less and less.  It all comes down to the bows design.  More and more bowyers are starting to develop short bows that eliminate finger pinch to a point.

For a great example look at the picture BobW posted above.  He has a true 32" draw and is at full draw with a 56" Shrew longbow.

Forward riser helps cure a lot of the finger pinch issues.

Would a 58" Martin Mamba be a good one to shoot with a 29-30" draw?

I could be wrong, but it looks like he is shooting 3 fingers under.

Yes, I shoot 3-under.  Didn't change because of the bow, I always did, even on my 68" ChekMate.

I just wonder if you wouldn't have finger pinch if you did shoot split.  I'm just saying that because I did.  Maybe there are some tricks I'm not aware of to minimize it, but it really caused release problems for me.  I honestly didn't even consider it when I got the shorter bow because I hadn't had any problems before.  I was more concerned with stacking at the time.

You ever make it up to Vermont and I'll let you shoot some that won't pinch.
