first deer with long bow
« on: October 25, 2008, 11:34:00 PM »
I got my first deer with a long bow tonight.  I knew the bow was quiet,  but after i shot her once, she took a few steps closer to me and looked back at the arrow, giving me a second shot.   first shot was at 15 yards and a double lung shot.   second shot was at about 13 and took out her heart.  she walked a couple more yards and layed down.
i was using a  Holm-Made Osprey longbow 46Lbs with magnus 2 blade broadheads.

Sometimes the stealth of a longbow is the key to success. Or at least a short blood trail!

Congrats on a good hunt. I like the combination of set up your using also. Very simular to what I am using in bow weight, 2 blade and short longbow. Thanks for filling us in.

That is the kind of kill I dream of making,my goal as a hunter. Thank you for sharing, this is grist for my "visualization mill".

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
