My oh My...another FireFly by Jim Jones
« on: November 03, 2008, 10:30:00 AM »
On thursday I was able to pick up my second FireFly from Jim. Now I was more than pleased with my first one but man did Jim out do it on this one!

She's a 62" 52@28, Lacewood riser with accents, waterfall bubinga veneers, with Lacewood caps and tips! Wow do the woods mate well! It is a beautiful bow and what a shooter! Only being a pound heavier than my other 'Fly it sure appears to toss an arrow faster.

Now over the last year, I come to respect and admire Jim not only as a bowyer but as a friend. He actually brought the roughed in riser to our Leota Buck Jam deer camp 60 miles from his house, so I could see it, and test fit the grip then he even hunted with our group that night! Jim has always went out of his way with my orders and made sure everything is was perfect fit wise and not to mention a bow that can shoot with the best of them. I always enjoy talking with him, and learning from his experience.

You'd better save up your quarters for Elm Hall this coming summer Mr. Jones!

Now there is a down side, since Jim got talking with me in his shop, I got in my stand way late that night...long story short I ended up filling
my doe tag with a button buck. My second trad deer ever. Here's a link to the story and pic.(you'll have to scroll down on the link)

Thanks for everything Jim! And If someone is looking for a great bow and top notch bowyer, I can more than recommend Jim and his work.

Drew, that bow is gorgeous!!  Your right about Jim being a great guy and I was glad I got to meet him at camp.

I just took a doe in the U.P. last week. She was the first to fall to my Firefly. I also have the waterfall bubinga vaneers, but mine are more spotted than streaky like yours. It is very cool wood. That is a nice looking bow!

Beautiful looking bow. How heavy is the lacewood compared to coco-bolo or other exotic woods.

Again she's a beauty.

Bought one last year.  Killed my biggest ever with the first shot at live game last Sat.  Love the bow.  Price is great and it's a shooter.

Dave you didn't shot the only doe in the da UP did ya? Congrats!!

Whittler, the Lacewood appears to my hand to be no heavier, than my other riser which is Cocobolo & Curly Maple.

Thanks Mike! I'm sure you'll get a chance to shoot her..

For some reason...I was expecting to see a bow with a metal riser  ;)

Gorgeous bow.

The riser kind of reminds me of those Brown Recluse bows.

It looks like it was built for speed but I'm sure it's more than just a fast bow.

Hey Drew,
Glad you sold me the Baraga so you could get the Firefly! The Firefly is a beaut, but I really love the Baraga. A win win situation for the both of us.

Black, I think Jim had the name Firefly before the metal riser came out...(as far as I know)

Pat, I hear you...those Baraga's are great shooters, I'll have another one someday.

Drew, A buddy of mine also shot a doe the same evening. Now bucks are a differant story, the only four seen were spikes, and they are off limits up there this year. Oh well they will be bigger next year.
