Longbows for me, but "short" longbows, I like those the best, 58" and under.

I've only this year got what the longbow shooters meant when they talked about experiencing the beauty, romance, and history of shooting a longbow. I can only go so far in the R/D department though and still obtain this feeling. Hybrids are great but they don't grab me in the same way. 64" or better, classic "D" shape when strung, and "Howard Hill type grip.

Been shooting longbows and recurves for 48 years. All depends on how I feel that day.

Never owned a wheelie, never will!!! Shot one once, they just ain't right. Never touched one again!   :archer:

I had a compound years ago but I didn't like the training wheels much.

Then I got a Bob Lee Hunter in Camo - 63#@28" 60" and it was nice - sold it to my daughters boyfriend. I think he is doing a sneak on some brocolli right now  :biglaugh:

I have since bought a 66" 54# @ 28" ACS longbow....very sweet bow....very fast..hits as hard as my Bob Lee.

Now I have my Super Shrew Classic 56" 58# @ 28". I am still waiting for some arrows and silencers for it. SO I can't really say too much yet. I tried shooting the arrows for the ACS but they don't have enough spine. So I am itching to get the right arrows for her now.

I think I like recurves and longbows, but I think I like the lightness of the longbow more, but it's a toss up at this point.

But these are my two favourite hunting pardners, my horse Banjo and my Pinzgauer.

Eight recurves and two longbows. I shoot and hunt with the curves mostly, more consistant with them.

Recurves, one piece and takedown models.   This is three of my favorites. Longbows are cool-I just haven't shot them much and at this stage of the game probably won't. I don't change much.         Grant

I shot a recurve.  Kinda different though I aim the thing like a big dog on a small tree.  I stringwalk.  this a Brackenbury Drifter 56#@28" 60".  Actually it is one of a kinda.  the only Drifter with a deflexed riser.

 http://sites.google.com/site/stringwalkerbowhunter/bracksw

ya see the two red nocks on the string.  if ya look real close under the nocking points ya will see a dental floss nocking point looking thing.   i draw and release the string from that point for a 15 yds shot.  I hold the BH on the exact spot I want to hit.  I gap with the point for distance but it will stay on the kill zone for any distance I shoot.

When I first got hooked on traditional archery, I decided that I wanted to experience as many different kinds of traditional bows as possible (and own each type). I've enjoyed shooting and hunting with numerous longbows and recurves, though currently I'm shooting a recurve. I think I personally shoot the recurve better, but that doesn't mean that I won't pick-up a longbow from time-to-time. Later down the track, I'll have to hack-out my very-own selfbow, too. They're all good!

Primarily recurves, own a couple of longbows, but just haven't been able to get the feel for being real consistent with them yet.

I'm only into one piece recurves - cause they look sexy.  Longbows are far too straight.      :D
