Traditional noggins
« on: March 04, 2007, 11:38:00 AM »
One thing i've noticed about the traditional brethren is our infatuation with unique, whimisical, outlandish and sometimes comical headgear we sometimes like to adorn ourselves with. Well our last KTBA club shoot i simply could not resist this photo session of my good friend (maybe ex-friend now) Eddie. I've seen some hilarious headgear before, and maybe this is not the worst, but its definately in the running. Kudos to you Eddie, a man has got to be really secure in his masculinity to don this piece. Thanks Eddie, may you wear it a long time. Its you're good luck piece now, i'm sure it will ensure bowhunting success, and should be regular hunting gear.

Vic,

I put a stalk on a good sized calf moose that evening after eating and cleaning up.  I wish I would have worn the hat, I probably would have gotten close enough for a shot.  When we first saw it down a cut-line in the tall grass, we thought it was the biggest black bear on earth.  Things got a bit EDGY for a minute!  LOL!!!  I committed to putting the stalk on before I knew it was a moose.  I was thinking a BIG BEAR on the ground up close and personal for about the first 20 yards until I could get a better look thru the binos.  I had goose bumps on top of goose bumps.  It just vanished before I got within 30 yards.  Had a bull respond LOUDLY from the spot I lost the calf, but he never came in for a shot.  All in all it was a great night.

Had a black bear follow us back to camp that night and woof at us when we got about 20 yards from the truck.  We heard him paralleling us for half a mile in the dark.  We were glad to be at the truck when he decided to TALK to us.  LOL!!!  Dirty bugger took one of our camp plates that night (Clifford the Big Red Dog Plate borrowed from my little girls).  I guess he liked marinated deer steak as much as me!  I really need to keep a cleaner camp in bear country.  Had yote tracks in the ashes of our fire ring the following time out when we got up.  We found those after being awakened by a beaver felled Poplar not 100 feet from camp.  That liked to scared the pee out of me!  LOL!!!

I wear what  I LIKE , and have taken some Friendly Ribbing, as well as some "Down Right" DisRespectful and Nasty Comments about My HeadGear. My Reaction to the Jerks, is usually a Polite "Damn, they musta run out of Hooker Jokes, ya reckon?" It either Ends It or Escalates It.

Look,Yer famous again.
Target archery is seeing how far away you can get and still hit the bull's eye. Bowhunting is seeing how close you can get and never miss your mark.

This thread reminded me of the time I tried to put a deer on my shoulder so I could walk it out. The first first go at getting it up there found me wearing a gutted deer on my head. My son was laughing so hard he was worthless the rest of the day. I almost couldn't get it lifted back up and was in tears from laughing so hard.

I need to find me a new hat with some caricature.  :)
