Any of you guys temper your Bamboo,I would like to try but have never done it.
I really like the looks of the tempered stuff under clear glass.
Thanks for the help.
Regards, Bert.

Hey Bert,
are you the guy I remember from the old Western Bowhunter magazine that shot Hill Big 5s? That's been a long time ago..... nice muley buck if I remember right....
Tempering 'boo is a good thing, I do it to every bow. It takes some practice to get it right. I think there's some books out there that talk of how to do it. If you just want a pretty bamboo bow, take a propane torch to the 'boo and you will see it change colors quickly. You have to be very careful not to burn it or get the moisture too low.....explaining how to do it correctly would take more space that we have here.

for starters...I did a google search and found some interesting tutorials. I'm interested as well.
Come to think of it...i've got a half of a bamboo backed bulletwood bow that I've been using as a fire prod up in the shop's woodfurnace for the past burning season. End of it's charred and broken from me being so aggresive with it getting those logs moved around. Hasn't broken on a glue joint...titebond 3 is great. makes me wonder if you can successfully temper after the glue up.
