first longbow deer
« on: November 09, 2008, 04:55:00 PM »
After shooting a recurve for over 30 years I went to the longbow this year, and got my first deer. Not a big one, but it's meat. My bow is a Thunderstick Mag - gray actionwood riser and limb cores with gray and black camo veneers. It's 58" 48# at 26". My arrows are goldtips with Magnus II broadheads.

Sure it's a big deal... 'cuz you got it with a longbow!  I'd love to get any deer this year, and a nice little buck like that would have me smilin' all the way to the butcher's house!

My first deer with trad gear was a spike buck too - the dumbest deer ever to inhabit West Virginia.  Ran off when I got to my tree, came back and ran off again while I was going up in it in a climber, then came back a third time after I got set up.  Natural selection at work.
