how much difference in tune. FF vs B-50

i'm using carbon out of my recurve. been using endless b-50 since i started 10 months ago. met a tradganger yesterday who makes selfbows, longbows and 'curves. he made me a flemish FF string to try. 10 strand, 2 bundle. loops padded with B-50. just wondering how much weaker my arrows will act? at the moment my arrows are 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" longer than my minimum arrow length. do you think that i'll have enough arrow to allow for trimming to stiffen them up. can't wait to experience the difference.

When I switched from B50 to FF on a longbow years back I had to shorten my arrows about 1",but those were wood arrows.But carbons are a different ballgame,your bow is a recurve and is it cut past center? The only way I know for sure would be to strip one bare and shoot it,to see how it flys.You may be able to lighten the point weight alittle also.It doesn't take much shortening to stiffen up a carbon in my experience.Carbons react differently and reciver quicker,they may be fine or you might need to shorten alittle,but I would shoot them before I would do any cutting.

Your bow is cut to center, so it will sort of depend on how stiff your arrows were to begin with. A center shot bow will handle a wide range of spines, including overspined arrows. If they are right on, you may need to trim some. Be very careful with that though. Carbon responds pretty quickly to trimming, so 1/4" at a time would be plenty. It looks as if you would have plenty of arrow to trim.

yeah i'm hoping that's the case. that's if i like FF enough to make the change.
