I have a Shaggie from Rancho safari, as I hunt strickly from the ground and love it. My question is about cleaning the shaggie How is the best way to clean it and will the burlap get an odor simalar to a old mop after doing so? Thanks for any info.

I have one but it isn't burlap. What I do is turn it inside out and throw it in the washing machine with my normal hunting detergent. I wash it in the delicate cycle and even do an extra baking soda rinse. After the rinse I hang it to dry outside. By turning the garment inside out you keep the burlap from fraying during the process.

I work real hard to get my Gillie "SHAGGIE" I want all the burlap as fuzzy as it can get. I go so far as to drag it behind a ATV. MY Rancho Safari is not allowed in the house or inside period! Rain and snow wash it, wind & air dry it. A special hole I dug to bury it in for a couple of weeks at a time, helps cut down on any un-natural scents that it may pick up....I short I guess you could say I treat mine like DIRT...............vb

I've been wondering what the best method of cleaning would be. I'll try the inside out method.

I do something similar to Iron Bull, short of burying it. Wind and rain. I'm not against putting it in the dirt though. Might try washing the face mask inside out. I think that is the part of the suit that gets the smelliest.

I used the hose and cleaned my shaggie.. Worked well and I hung it outside to drip dry in the wind...
