d-shape long bow(with slight reflex)

l been thinkig about getting a new longbow. with a slight d-flex for shooting and still d-shaped for quietness. the thing i am looking for is quiet, with a little added performance. i like bambo limbs. i have shot many nice longbows that are reflex/deflex. that i like a lot. looking for something a little quieter any idea's ?

When you say a slight d-flex are you looking for a string follow with a slight bend toward you? Or a slight reflex with the limbs pointing away from you? My reverse handle HH Wesley has a slight reflex.Craig at Howard Hill archery will make you a straight or reflex or a string follow bow.Another one you might look at is a Northern Mist by Steve Turray,he makes a fine bow.

If you're looking for one with a little reflex, a Northern Mist Baraga is a nice bow.  If you're looking for one with a little deflex (string follow) then a Northern Mist Superior may be what you're looking for.

I've shot deflex/reflex longbows for quite a while now.  A couple of my favorites that fit your idea are the Great Northern Critter Gitter and the Robertson Mystical.  Both string up in the "D" shape you refer to, have good performance and are very quiet shooting, esp the GN.  The GN Bushbow is nice, too.  It has a wider, thinner cored limb than the Critter Gitter.  I've always preferred the thicker cored limbs on longbows.

You might consider the Border Griffon GL. The Griffon has a slight R/D ("D" shape when strung). The "GL" stands for glassless but the limbs do have carbon in them. The carbon is 40% lighter than the glass but more "torsionally stiff" so you can have a fast, light bow that is pretty forgiving. I think that it hits the intersect as it were of speed and smoothness-why give up anything? Has the longbow grip and not the pistol or recurve grip so you might not find that as smooth. Comes in lengths from 64"-70" and also in a TD version. Mine has bamboo core limbs with Indonesian rosewood veneers and riser. Pete Ward has a full review on  www.peteward.com.

Northern Mist Classic. Steve puts just a slight bit of bend into the limbs to calm it down and increase performance, and it works. Can't beat the man or his bows - both excellent! If you need more r/d then the Superior is also a great bow, and if you need more still, then the Baraga is for you. Good luck! Ken

I always "D" bows were lacking in performance.  Until I shot a St. Joe River.  When you see the bow unstrung you can't believe that it turns into a D bow.  It's very quiet and the most forgiving bow I've ever shot.  If you want some pictures PM me.  I just got back from 3 weeks of hunting and am unpacking.  It will take a while to get them to you.

My experience and recommendation are the same as Fletcher's.  The Critter Gitter is a mild r/d bow; the mystical, purist, vision Robertsons, all the same design, has more r/d, particularly the more recent versions.  The Robertson has a slight edge on speed, the Critter Gitter is a little quieter and seems just a tad more comfortable to shoot.  Can get either with bamboo limbs. If what you mean by slight deflex is a slight setback, a Howard Hill might be just the ticket.  Not as quick as the two mentioned, but not a slouch either.  I also have a few Hills and enjoy shooting them as much as the others. There's something about a Hill that just says, "this is what a longbow is supposed to be."  Can't go wrong with any of the recommendations offered.  Good luck.

When i read your post,the first bow that came to mind,was a Liberty English.It has all your looking for,with a slightly foreward handle to adress the shock attributed to straight limbed bows.Im not shure when Allen is going to fire up the shop again,but i bet you could find a used one.
