I believe it's legal and ethical to hunt mice over bait. I suggest setting up your double bull about 5 yards away from a nice pile of extra chezzy cheetos.  If you use a mouse decoy make sure you have her head facing towards the double bull as not to alert the glove chewing crtiiter coming into the bait!  :D

These critters are normally not loners, so you probably have a pack roaming the area.

Traditional Bowhunter Magazine had an article a few months ago on a technique one hunter was using.  I think it had to do with anti-freeze.  :scared:

As I have said before, I had a battle with a wild pack of these critters.

This stuff is what I ended up using-----worked like a charm.

Jeff did you put this around your house? How long did it last and how much did you have to use?

You might need a backup gun.... just in case.   :bigsmyl:

If you want to get rid of them make an antifreeze mouse trap. Take a five gallon bucket and fill it part way with antifreeze/water. Take a wire and skewer it through an empty soda can lengthwise. Make sure it spins freely. Slobber some peanut butter on the can and place the wired can across the top of the bucket far enough away that the mouse will have to jump to get to it. Put a board there to the top of the bucket to act as a ramp and there you have it. The mouse will go up the ramp and jump to the prize but will roll off the can into the antifreeze. End of story. Take care, Matt

It worked great! I had the damn mice getting in my truck even. I spread this stuff around and within a week-----zero mice. It took a week or so to really get going, but once it did it was effective. It has lasted for three months so far during pretty heavy rain and snow, so I expect it would work really well in the dry climates.

Guys, always check the hunting regulations in your state. Some states don't allow hunting over bait. Just my 2 cents here.

"Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone"

That Shake-Away is intrigueing, and way safer for the dog than a bucket of antifreeze. The mice at camp have a thing for fur string silencers. Plus, they took the insulation from the underside of the truck hood and used it and some cigarette butts and leaves to build a nest behind the carburater. I took the truck to Meinecke for routine maintenance, and the ashen-faced mechanic gasped about an "animal" in the truck. I had left my husband at home, so I figured it was the mouse. An emaciated deer mouse was still stowing away in that poor truck. I had to use chopsticks to get the nest out of the tight space, (it is a Japanese truck) and the mouse was seen no more. It chewed enough insulation off of the wiring that I have been trying to come up with a repellent for years. Mothballs don't do it. They are difficult to harvest, too.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW yeaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Well the offending rodent or one of his friends has gnawed his last damascus glove!!!!!!!

and now the story.....

The wind was perfect for the evning hunt and I had already donned my ASAT G.T.I.B. (guy tinkering in the basement) Camo and since i had a little extra time i figured I'd walk my trap line on the way...

From a few yards away i could see fur and i couldnt get through the brush or around the welder fast enough!!!!

Just as i reached for the dead mouse it came to my attention that he was VERY MUCH ALIVE and some what disenchanted with being stuck in a trap!

never loosing my cool i backed up at a moderate pace and gracefully crapped my pants.

after re-assesing the situation and calculating his chances of survival he had about .177% of getting away... i'll let you guess what happened.

once i clean the blood off my trap it will be re-set and ready to go!

as a side note...

the bow in the picture is my 54# elk creek BBO long bow, which i picked up from dalebow this summer... i was worried about penitration but in the end i tucked it right behind the sholder and snuck it between the ribs so i guess its better to be lucky than good!
