What Do You Think About The Checkmate Falcon Performance
« on: November 18, 2008, 09:29:00 AM »
I would like to know, because I have seen a number of them on here.  How do the checkmate falcon bows shoot, and how is the smoothness, and accuracy.

Give me your input I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

I've owned a couple, shot a bunch. They are great bows, very smooth and accurate as anything out there.

They are known as the workhorse bow of the chek-mate line. A very-very good bow at an excellent price.

Thanks Tim,

I happen to come across one that was brand new very nice looking, three different woods and inlay.  I should have it in about six days.  It's coming from Chad, he's a great person to work with.

It was a reasonable price, and I couldn't pass up the deal, especially since I don't have to wait eight months.  I was in favor of shooting one bow, and shooting that well, I'll just have to use them both one a time !

My brother's got one and has been pleased with it. He just posted a pic of it on here a couple days ago with a new leather grip he just put on it. He seems to be enjoying it. I shot it, and it's a solid bow. I've got nothing bad to say about it!

I bought one this summer. I really like it. Does great when I get everything right.  :)

For what its worth, everyone who sees it tells me they think it's a really nice looking bow.

Had a Falcon -Deluxe model. Fast, accurate, quiet ,and hits where you look. PLUS the price tag is very nice too.

I talked to Chad this afternoon, he's making the string, and it will probably go out Friday.

I think I'd like to put a leather grip on it.  I've got some extra antelope hide that I haven't tanned yet, that would be kinda nice, it is thinner, and I could make a quiver how do the rest of it.  It's a South Dakota antelope.

Chad made sure he was making he was doing the right colors for my string.

The bow is one that missed the mark for the #for someone else that ordered it, and turned it down.  So the woods that are used are about three different woods, and also inlay, and I didn't have to wait eight months.  I'll put up photos later when it gets here.

It will be my " keep in shape bow " 60" 40# @ 29"

I really like my falcon. I'm partial to longbows but was given a falcon and I love it. Very smooth and quick. I just posted some pics a day or two ago with a new leather grip I put on mine. Chances are, you'll love yours.

What kinda leather did you use ?  Did you sand down the grip first to make it a little bit smaller, I've heard that the groups are little bit bigger on the falcon bows.

It's a good bow for the price.  The grips are pretty beefy.  That's why I sold mine, but I have small hands.

I read where one guy took a falcon filed and sand down the grip to fit his hand, and it made for an ice bow for him a little better work.

If you love the bow but hate the fatter grip, get out a rasp and change it.  I've altered several bows over the years to suit my hand.  You will void the warranty but you will have a bow that fits.  My friend has a Chekmate Falcon and prefers it over his Martin Hunter...which is a superb bow.

I have taken many fish with my Falcon on Lake Falcon coincidentaly.  They are tough, fast and best of all accurate.  Here is a pic of one of my kills with the Checkmate Falcon:

Sarrel's BlueRidge Takedown Longbow 3pc
62" 53#@28"
Easton XX75 400   250gr up front
Have you noticed that the times you don't get nothing while hunting, are usually the most fun you've ever had.

Ordered my Falcon.  Got it about 1 mos ago.  I agree with everyone:  solid, fast, smooth, beautiful, great price...  Chad is the man, makes great strings, and has the best customer service.  Oh, the performance can be found in Highlights 08 under Kansas Buck.
