This morning there was about two inches of snow on the ground, I looked up and here this fella was, trailing the deer I shot yesterday.....

He ran around all morning, I finally got the camera up and ready when he started stalking a grey squirrel....

I could have shot him several times, but then let him go. After I watched him for a while, I thought he was just too pretty to kill.

Great pics. I wouldn't have been able to shoot him either.

Awesome! I had one join me in a blowdown this season. You should have seen him run when he saw a man sitting there. I coulden't shoot him either. Kind of like a gift from God to see a fox that close.

I'm thinking I would have tried to shoot him- get him full mount, and enjoy forever.....the pics are the next best thing- great experience.

Those are great photos. There is a lot to be learned by just watching and not shooting. What a great thing to witness. I have never had a fox in range, but the ones I have watched out of range were a lot of fun to watch. I am not sure I would want to stop watching one long enough to even take a shot. They are great little hunters and we can sure learn from them.
Thanks for showing us those great photos.

Awesome pics. I love foxes--they kinda remind me of good bowhunters: clever, sneaky, tenacious, opportunistic, etc. I've never shot at one.

Your pics are cool two years ago I had one almost trot into my lap while I was in a ground blind.

That one sure is pretty. Nice camera shots.

Great pictures!  That is one pretty animal, for sure.

I don't mean to hijack, but want to share my "fox story"... a couple of years ago I was sitting in a stand bowhunting and saw a gray fox coming thru the woods.  He stopped at a big Oak, took a look up it, and then skinned that tree like a cat!  He went up and appeared to check a squirrel nest, then turned around and came down head first - just like a squirrel!  He even stopped about halfway down to take a look around.

I never knew a fox could/would climb like that... but I was an eye-witness to the event and know it now!

Nice photos, what a nice coat on that critter.
