which carbon shaft?
« on: November 19, 2008, 03:28:00 PM »
Hello all.
I am considering some carbons and was wondering which shaft would be a more forgiving hunting shaft. Please note these are for turkeys and I am looking for around 12-14gpp arrow weight.

1) Easton 500 with 200-300 up front (both weights seem to shoot well).

2) Any of the tapered shafts.

 Any opinions would be welcome.
 Thanks,
   Tom.

if you want weight, look at the fully tapered shafts from alaskan bowhunting. Expensive, but excellent reviews of all kinds. Seeing as you are from ontario, they will be great for moose also.
I just can't afford them.

Try the Alaskan Sitkas from Alaska Bowhunting. They are excellent to shoot, also you you get them with a 75gr insert and you can buy 20gr or 50gr insert adapters to add extra weight up front. According to them you can put up to 2 adapters per insert, and they do not effect the spine of the arrow that much. Duane

Thanks for all the input.

I playing around in the basement and at around 15 yards the Epic combo was shooting perfect bullets holes through paper. I am going to see how it goes at longer ranges but i think that this is set-up will do the trick.
