Arkansas Christmas Connection?
« on: November 20, 2008, 11:26:00 AM »
I'll be in AR 12/20-26 visting my family in the Heber Springs/Pangburn areas, wondered if there's any Tradgangers around there that want to fling a few while I'm there. Can't go without taking my bow...7 days without my Morrison would be pure torture! If not, at least I can flyfish the Little Red at Cow Shoals, my Dad lives just above the first riffle.

Holler at me Razorbacks...

Lin's about 2 1/2 hours from where I'll be...but I bet it would be worth the drive to see his knives.

Anyone, anyone?

No Way! Cause with what I'd spend, I'd have to hit a high end jewelry store to even things up.   :scared:

I wish I was gonna be there.  I'd love to tangle with one of those big nasty brown trout!  Have fun!

JC,

Are you wanting to hunt or shoot?  I don't know what the plans are for Christmas.  I will be getting my marching orders soon and will let you know.

Wally, 3 years ago Christmas, Chase (my oldest) flyfished Little Red with us for the first time. Though he was a bit frustrated by the cold and having to knock the ice out of his guides every few casts, when he hooked into a nice one on his 4wt, his eyes got wide and he said "Are you sure this is a trout?!!!??". Yep, good fishing there.

Probably just shoot Mike...unless you get a dusting+ of snow...then I'll purchase a small game 3 day and chase wabbits! I've thought about getting a full license and deer hunting but that would be too much for the limited time I won't be visiting relatives. Mainly, just want to connect with some more TG brothers.

JC, I grew up in Greers Ferry - just across the lake from Heber Springs.  My wife's parents live in Tumbling Shoals, just outside of Heber, on old Hwy 25.  I live in Conway now, which is about 45-50 minutes south of Heber.

There is a 3D range at Quitman, which is about 20 minutes south of Heber Springs.  Nice archery shop, too... but fairly limited on trad archery supplies last time I was there.  Ingram Archery is the name of the shop.  I might be able to meet you there for a shoot-thru... let's keep in touch!  Would love to meet ya for a handshake and a howdy!

That might work out Mark, I'll PM you my cell phone and we'll keep in touch. I also heard there is a field archery course on Henry Gray WMA, that's not too far away.

When Dad's not on the Lil'Red chasing trout, he's on Greers chaseing smallmouth. Many fond memories of that lake as a kid.

Good luck and I hope you get some folks together for a shoot!    :archer:

JC,
Holler at me when you get to Arkansas. I will probably be trying to get some knives made while off work, but would be glad to meet you for lunch or to have you over. I need some pointers on sticking hogs anyway. Lin

I grew up in the waters of Greers Ferry, swimmin' and fishin'... now I live 45 minutes away and lots of folks I work with go up there as much as they can, buy houses on the lake, and dream of living there when they retire.  I can't say I blame 'em... I'll be up there in the morning within a mile of the lake, sittin' in a stand...  :clapper:
