I have spoken to Whitey. He is the quiet one behind the scenes, but by far the best hunter of the three. He has passed several bucks in the 150 inch class, as he has seen some real monsters that he wants. Good luck Whitey!

I could not hunt at all during the month of October. I did get a good start in November, but just couldn’t manage to close the deal on a nice 10-point. When you hunt the same property every year the mature bucks tend to know which trees to stay clear of. Ha! Whitey has been getting some great footage. He even filmed a 160-class buck that gave me the slip a few days earlier. So Whitey and me have not taken a buck yet, but our brother Mark took a nice 8 pointer. It was 21 inches wide and had about 11 inch back tines. It dressed close to 240# and had a huge head with a corner of the eye to tip of the nose measurement of 8 ½ inches. It should supply Mark with several meals. We just had our first gun season in Illinois, and for some reason I’ve been doing better during the late season in recent years. So, I guess I will be looking forward to the cold again. Ha!

Good luck in the late season Mike.  My dad and I just got back from IL.  We had a good hunt.  I saw a big 9 point the second day and worked on him hard the rest of the week.  Saw him 4 more times but could never close the deal.  My dad took a smaller buck the last day.  Post some pictures when you get the late season bruiser.

Is that right Mike?  :p    :p

Glad to hear you got out some in November.  Seems like you just aren't having fun unless you are freezing your tail off though, so December is bound to be good!  Keep us posted!  :readit:

I still can't fathom "passing" up a 150 class buck! How bout you Biggie? You've shot your fair share of extra large whitetails how's your season going?

My Iowa buck came crashing by at 15 yards hot on a doe. I saw 5 points on the near side and a big ol body and drilled him on the run. He only went about 40 yards.
I'm not disapointed in him but let me just say, he's not what you go to Iowa for. Then to top it off, I didn't even take any decent pics.

As far as passing up a 150 class whitetail? I'm not there yet :-)

I'd like to see a 150 class whitetail while hunting!

Here is the guy I've been after. He has broke a sticker off his G-2 right side and one off the G-3 left side. His left brow point may be gone as well.

Biggie, Do I really have to wait a whole year? With all of the akerns and locust pods he's been eating, I was only going to give him until Christmas to grow them back.  Ha! :>)

Biggie, you're right. I live in Kansas but do most of my hunting in the Missouri Ozarks. In 20+ years of hunting the Ozarks I've never seen a 150 class deer, alive or dead. I can count on one hand the ones I've seen that would break 125. I need to start hunting more in Kansas!

Man, you are very fortunate to live in a place with deer like that.
Hope you get him.
If you do could you let us know what he ages?
I'm gonna guess 5 1/2.
Good luck.
Robert

Hi Mike,
We met at the PBS banquet. My son Tristan says hello also. You guys were again very generous with your time signing pics for him. Tell mark hello please. I got to share Quebec bear camp with him this past spring. Best wishes.

Here is Mark's 174" buck from yesterday...

David and Mike don't want to burn up all their tags before the very end of the season I think!
