New 16" riser from A&H
« on: November 21, 2008, 09:00:00 PM »
Here's what the guys at A&H cooked up for me with their new 16" riser that looks like their 14" riser. Bacote riser with some extra fancy overlays on the limbs and bacote limb tips. The new longer riser shoots awesome. The bow is 64" 44@28. Dan, Larry and John at A&H are the best!

Whats the advantage of the 16" riser over the 14"?

i am curious about that riser, is the grip the same as the 14 inch or is it beefier in the hand?  i realize the length of the riser has been stretched out. gorgeous bow!!

I'm also curious about that riser grip is it beefier than the 14" riser. I like the overlays goin order the next one with those options. That's a gorgeous bow!!

A great looing riser which just may increase this bow's performance (if that's  an issue for you CX shooters........  My two ACS's are both very performance oriented...  This looks appealing to me.... Dito on the guys at A@H, they helped me out recently and went beyond what a lot of bowyers would do to make me a better and happier shooter....  I prefer the smaller grip, perhaps the boys will give us a choice  !!!!  Thanks,  Jim

Hey guys, the grip on my bow is exactly like the grip on my 14" riser, I had them make it the same size. Dan told me on the stock 16" riser the grip and throat area worked out to be a little larger, but again, I had them match the 14" riser for me, no extra charge! I really like the extra length on the riser, longer sight window and just looks more natural.

richbear, can you describe your observations on how the 14" and 16" risers compare feel/performance wise? I'm on the verge of buying one of these bows, but have only shot the 14", which was awesome. The 16" would have a bit more mass in the hand, but I'm not sure what else happens to a bow's behavior when you lengthen the riser with everything else remaining the same. A stunning bow you have there for sure. Thanks.

Dave, I haven't had alot of shoot time with the bow yet, still bareshafting and getting things perfectly in tune. I have noticed that the extra sight window is fantastic. This bow feels more solid after the shot and for lack of a better word not as twitchy as the 14" riser, not saying I don't love my 14" riser, because I do, but I think this is taking an already great shooting bow and making it more solid. I've not taken the time to chrono the bow yet and make a comparison as far as performance but it sure feels faster. I'll give some comparisons when I get done tuning, Rich.

Thanks Rich,
looking forward to hearing more about your bow and/or other folks' experiences with the new 16" riser. Have fun tuning! Man it does look sweet.
Dave
