Tooling/Working with leather things

If a piece of leather is already dyed, can I cut, stamp, bevel, and re-dye it??

What would that look like appearance wise??

As in buying a plain jane quiver, and dressing it up..

It depends on the type of leather and the finish on it. If the quiver is tooling leather(usually oak tanned or latigo)and doesn't have a hard finish it can be tooled and re-dyed. You are better off starting from scratch but the other way is possible.   Pat

A good Oiled tanned leather that is great for making Quivers is not good for tooling...
    Vegitable tanned leather is good for tooling.

in my expererience, which is fairly limited, you will lose quite a bit of the depth of your tooling when you re-dye. I did a pretty elaborate arm guard with a skull on it. Maybe i used too much dye, but when i dyed it, it "floated" up most of the depressed areas. I had to go back and retool the whole thing.
