Airlines and Tradgang hats
« on: November 24, 2008, 11:04:00 AM »
Last week I attended a software conference in Denver.  Four days of intense sessions on the software we use at work.

On the way home, I had a flight from Denver to Detroit to connect back to Lexington, KY.  While boarding the plane, I had my Tradgang hat hanging off my laptop case.  I'm looking for my seat when I hear "Hey, is that a Tradgang hat you've got there?"  When I looked around there is a gentleman sitting there who proceeds to tell me he is a trad archer too!  I had a long line of people behind me so I couldn't stop to talk.

I had to make my way back to my seat without any time to talk to my "brother of the bow".  I sat down with plans to go back up and swap stories with him when the seat belt light went off.  Unfortunately, I was in a middle seat and the gentleman next to me had his laptop out the whole way into Detroit so I didn't feel like I could get out to go back up and talk to him.  I hate that!!

A little trad talk would have made the flight go a lot faster.

Anyway, if you are the person I saw, I tried to get back up there, and I looked for you when we landed, but I guess you were already out of the airport.

I apologize for not making it back up there.

And for the rest of you, wear those hats!!!  You never know when you will run into a friend.

I would dearly love a tradgang sew on patch so I could put one on a shirt...and a coat...and my favorite hat...and on my pack and on and on...

I second that sew on patch idea. I wear my tradgang hat a lot. I've had people ask me what trandgang is and I tell them but I've only met fellow tradgangers at shoots. I had a Bowsite(if I can mention another archery site) T-shirt on a flight from California to Nashville back in 2000 and had a connection in Texas. One guy on the plane from CA to TX did that "I am on that site a lot!" thing and we talked for a time and then in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport walking to my connection 3 guys all said, "Howdy, Brother bowhunter." Then on the flight to Nashville two guys I had never met that were flying to the same place I was yelled out, "Hey are you C2?" Which happens at all the shoots I go to these days but back then it was a novelty and really cool. It's always great to meet fellow brothers and sisters of the bow.

I like the patch idea as well. It would look good on a jacket or on my Catquiver.

It seems like you can always find a friend if you find someone from Tradgang!!!
