Smelly topic;deodorant poll
« on: November 28, 2008, 09:01:00 PM »
It tends to be a little warm during our Texas hunting season.Never had a problem when I was younger, but now that I've become an old goat(and smelling like one)I'm having problems with deer winding me.Anyone have some advice on the specialty hunting deodorants ? I've tried several of the unscented supermarket brands and they aren't working well.

Lavalin seems to work for me so far.

I got it at a health food store.

Apply every couple of days and no odor.

Check out Deer-Odorant from Hunting Science.
I use for everyday and love it. No smell!
the webpage is  www.huntingscience.com
One 5.1 oz stick will last a year with everyday use.

Speedstick un-scented works great. I've had better results with this then I have with "hunting" deodorants they sell commercially.

Certain-Dri.  It's in the normal deodorant section.  It's a roll-on that comes in a box.

Unscented and as strong or stronger than the prescription I have.

---One Tip---
Use it exactly as directed, or it's no better that slapping really expensive saltwater under your arms.  If done right it's actually a weird feeling have truly dry pits.

Been using Lavilin for over ten years.  One light application lasts me for 10 days to two weeks.  It is really simple, amazing stuff.  I buy it online and usually get it for $8-12 for a little container that lasts me 4-6 months with NO smell!  Natural ingredients and some sort of herbal "goodies" have made this a real keeper in my book.

I tried Dead Down Wind this season along with Palmolive nonscented soap, and it really kept my scent down. I have had lots of deer really close that didn't seem to get a whiff of human.

Mitchum unscented. Combine it with the normal no-scent soap and it works great for me, an old, fat, sweaty guy.

Go to local health food store.Buy the crystal stone. It looks like a clear rock. You just wet it and apply it under arms or on feet. Absolutly no oder. You will still sweet but the bacteria that causes oder is nutralized. I use it year round instead of deoderant.

Yea, I'd go with the crystal stone.  Years ago hunting outlet sold it, but they last for a year or more if you use them every day.  The stone is my "go to deordorant" (hate that phrase) not just for hunting, but everyday.

Mitchum unscented here too.  You can go two days in a pinch.

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

If the lavalin is the same as "Pit Stop" that Brunner used to sale through screaming eagle it never worked for me.  The crystal stone worked,RJ archery used to sale it then I found it at a health food place. It will last a very long time.

I use to worry about my scent. Then I realized taht I was killing just as many deer before all the scent free stuff came out.
That being said, I wear Speed Stick Cool Rush.  :wavey:
