« on: December 02, 2008, 02:28:00 PM »
Wow!! built a 10 strand 8125 string for my 56" stealth recurve ,, did not know how it would turn out but it is excellent.. served ends with .030 halo also halo on center serving tied on cat wiskers .. Best string,( speed up) and Quiet as well . Thanks to  Pete Ward as he told me to build a thinner string nock fit it also good with .030 center serving  other trad gang folks should try less strands you will not believe how good they are

Nope did not sleep in snow I was refering to an endless string and did not Know how to pad loops so I was letting other folks know that  you can still reduce number of strands with and endless string and get better speed and Quiet results and good nock fit without double serving  center section

Gord you just need to get Chads video "Doin the twist" and make some nice looking Flemish strings.

I have been using 10 stand endless strings.  at least in my case the draw back is ya have to break then in.  seems like that stretch more at first then become more stable.

as a string stretches does the diameter become smaller by a little bit?  I have at least had a little problem with servings staying put.  I went to Myjestic and found it more stable but havent shoot it during a hot summer yet.

there has been a great discussion over strings latley.  The most important thing for me a string can be is stable.  holding it's lenght and diameter over many mnay shot.  I give up a few fps for that.

Rusty, "The most important thing for me a string can be is stable. holding it's lenght and diameter over many mnay shot."

That's supposed to be the benefit of modern strings over Dacron, is it not? Or is the reason modern strings have the reputation of not stretching because they were typically built way stronger then they need to be? I personally don't mind checking my brace height and adjusting it occasionally. That just seems to be such a minor price to pay for less noise/vibration. Want stable?....I got some music wire we can pad the loops on!  :) .........O.L.
